Our Home
North Park Community Garden is open to anyone, whether you have green fingers or not. We are about growing. We want everyone to be able to find something they can get involved in no matter what their skill level. The garden is a chance to learn some new skills, enjoy the outdoors and to develop new friendships.
In every session we have lunch together, often cooking with what we grow. That means that you are likely to try something you’ve never had before. Everyone who gives us a hand gets some of the harvest to take home. And we love to involve everyone in deciding what we will grow the following year, always trying to add something new.
Starting with a few raised beds in 2015, we have expanded by adding at least one new bed each year, enabling us to grow more fruit and veg, and engage with more people. The garden is evidence of people working together to create an asset that the Bootle community can enjoy and benefit from.
We are open on Mondays and Wednesdays from 10am until 2pm and over the summer we open 1 evening a week, Thursday 6pm-8pm
The garden is about growing as a community. Growing food, growing as individuals and building community and so increasing wellbeing and social connections.
Things We Do
Christmas Wreaths
Our seasonal Christmas wreath making is our most popular workshop. It has become a Christmas tradition for many people, a time to get together with friends, be creative and get into the Christmas spirit.
We come to your venue and show you how to create a natural Christmas wreath, using spruce and other evergreen foliage, which many people add to using foliage from their own garden to make their wreath personal and unique.
We provide all the materials you will need and the equipment you will use, all you need to do is bring the Christmas treats.
Notebooks and Rolled Candles
We also deliver workshops showing you how to make note books and make rolled wax candles.
These can be delivered separately or together. These activities are an opportunity to get together and try something new and creative.
Gardening and Outdoor cooking
At North Park community Garden we are able to deliver a variety of gardening and outdoor cooking workshops. The workshop can be themed around the needs go your group or around an idea, such as climate change, seasonal cooking or small space growing.
Gateway kitchen produces a delicious range of jams, pickles & chutneys straight from our allotment to kitchen, as well as gifts, seed packets and subscription to our Bootle Jam Club.

Working in Partnership
Made in Bootle originally started as a collaboration between Gateway Collective and B4Biodivesity, as a way to showcase Bootle’s independents, makers, creatives and social enterprises. Our first Made in Bootle gift box was launched on Earth day 2021 featuring a collection of products made by Bootle local small businesses, with each box’s profits going back to supporting Bootle as a community. In May 21 we held our first Made in Bootle market generating sustainable income that is reinvested in the local community.
So far via our markets and gift boxes we have worked with: White Bean Coffee, Bootle Tool Shed, Netherton Community Garden, Bootle Bread, The Felt Factory, Inner Craftiness, Incrediwax, Auntys Bags, Fox and Crow, Brennan’s Cider, Crosby Cheese Wheel, Caz’s Kitchen but a big shout out needs to go to Gill from the Felt Factory and Nanette from Inner Craftiness for all their support and encouragement.
Markets and gift boxes are now our main activities and in Sept 22 we will be joining with Bluebell Artisan Markets to hold our biggest market yet with more local stalls and activities. Everyone who partners with Made in Bootle is a local South Sefton based independent business who signs up to our principles of environmental sustainability and agrees to operate with carbon zero principles, so by buying from us you are helping the local Bootle community and the rest of the world too!
If you’re interested in being involved with future Made in Bootle markets, Please email ali@thegatewaycollective.co.uk or madeinbootle@gmail.com. To be a part of Made in Bootle you must be local or operate out of Bootle or South Sefton.
