We grow food. people. community.

Welcome to Gateway Collective. A social enterprise tackling loneliness and isolation with community building and support.

Who We Are

About Gateway Collective

Gateway Collective works to see thriving people and communities in Bootle. We increase well-being and create lasting social connections using the tool of community gardening.

Gateway Collective has two core objectives:

Explore our values and meet our lovely team on our about page.

Our Projects

Gateway Garden

North Park Community Garden is open to everyone. At every session we eat together, often cooking with what we grow, building community with the food that we eat.

Gateway Workshops

Our arts and craft workshops can be delivered in your venue. We bring all the equipment needed to teach you how to make and create. You just need to turn up and join in.

Gateway Grows

During lockdown, we created a series of videos to teach you how to grow at home using containers you may already have in the house. You can find these all on our YouTube channel!

What We Do

Our Impact

The impact of Gateway Collective is well established. We make a social impact, helping to reduce loneliness and isolation, improving mental wellbeing and forming a genuine community.

“I found out about the community garden at an open day during a break in lockdown, and I’ve been going ever since. It is important to me and has helped with my mental health. I am an outdoor person and the garden means that I can be outdoors growing stuff, that would otherwise be beyond my means, both financially and physically".

"NPCG has made an incredible difference to both my mental and physical health. It has allowed me to practice and gain confidence with my social skills. I now feel able to hold and engage in conversations with all types of people, even people I had not previously met, which used to be a large barrier for me. I feel more confident in myself as I now feel a part of a community space,"
Volunteer P
Both Ali & Jan have worked incredibly hard to create a welcoming community. They are able to alter and configure tasks to people's level of ability. If one day you are feeling able to do something but not the next, you are not judged or forced to participate. NPCG has attracted a unique variety of people who all have different individual life experiences but are still able to connect and form bonds with one another.

Gateway Kitchen produces a delicious range of jams, pickles & chutneys straight from allotment to kitchen.

Fresh, homegrown seasonal produce is turned into amazing jars of stunning flavour, and what’s even better is that every jar purchased supports the vital work of Gateway Collective the community.

We also have subscriptions available to our local Jam club.

Our Partners

Our Supporting partners both past and present are listed here. We are thankful for the support of the Linacre Ward Councillors, and the Bootle Jam Factory is made possible with The National Lottery Heritage Fund. Thanks to National Lottery players, we have been able to explore the life and work of William Hartley and look at how Bootle’s rich jam making heritage can be used for good today.
